This is a historical walk through five places in the City of London: the Roman amphitheatre beneath Guildhall, Smithfield, Temple Church, All Hallows by the Tower and Bevis Marks Synagogue. Each keeps a piece of the same story: for nearly two thousand years this has been a place where people swore, deposited, kept and refused oaths. You will leave knowing where to stand, what to look for, and why the word "sacrament" began life as a soldier's promise.
